Description

I've always wanted to do a tutorial some time, though I have to admit it was more of a far-off dream than a project I was planning anytime soon. Mostly because there are already amazing tutorials and other resources out there, and I wasn't sure what I could add with my current level of skills.
But :iconcardstone: requested I'd do a step-by-step of my latest deviation, Kneel to the Twin Kings, so I basically threw together a bunch of notes and called it a tutorial. It's a bit messy, since I did not plan to do a step-by-step of this deviation in advance, but I hope there's still some useful tips in there.

The custom brush I mention in Note 7 is this one by bananapanik. Though a bit unpredictable, I still like it a lot!

Also, some manga I recommend you to study if you want to improve your line art, especially in terms of line weight (Note 5), are Bleach (Tite Kubo), Fullmetal Alchemist (Arakawa Hiromu), Owari no Seraph (Yamamoto Yamato) and Kuroshitsuji (Toboso Yana). They have very clean line art with strong use of line weight (though there are of course more manga-ka you could look at, also for different styles of line art. These are just my personal favourites).

Let me know what you think! I'd really appreciate some feedback, so that, if I ever do another tutorial, I can improve! Also, if you have any other questions regarding my art, I'd be happy to share what I know (and don't know), so feel free to ask =)

Wow this is absolutely amazing!

I  really enjoyed reading about your thought process (especially as a beginner) and you did a great job simplifying it.

I learned a lot, thank you!!
